GTT

"GTT"
(Gone To Texas: a common posting nailed into the door of plantations in New England by those who left to settle TEXAS)
on wed. we took a two hour flight with two babies under two years old to san antonio. jillians expression pretty much sums up how we all felt.
we were running late out the door, jeff got a ticket on the way for an illegal u-turn, you have to buy the snacks and drinks on the flights now (no more free peanuts), and jeff got in the wrong car at the rental place so they wouldn't let us out of the lot.
we were so happy to see our sweet hotel:
it was right across the street from the alamo.

jill LOVES texas birds. there are more than one at once.

we toured the Alamo

and went on the river walk. we all LOVED the sight of green and BIG trees.

now we're in san angelo gearing up for jeff's stroll down memory lane

jeff's 10 year high school reunion coming right up.

Heyyy, you guys look fabulous! How cool to see the sights of Texas....it has been a while. I don't know if Jeff told you about the first experience @ the Alamo. Gma and Gpa Crane had come to Texas to visit us and we decided to drive to San Antonio together to see the Alamo etc. It was Halloween day and the kids were not happy about missing out on trick or treat so Gma had purchased little pumpkin buckets and filled them with candy for the trip. We were in two separate cars and as we entered San Antonio we realized that we hadn't really been clear on what to do if either one of us got separated from the other. So, when we made a quick decision to head down a ramp off the freeway, mom and dad hadn't seen until it was too late. (is the beauty of cell phones coming to mind?) Remember, this was a long time before cell phones! Jeffrey was little (7?) We didn't know what to do so we went straight to the Alamo knowing that was the only known thing that both vehicles had talked about.Maybe we would meet up. We kept circling the Alamo hoping that Gma and Gpa would show up. Finally, Jeffrey said, "we should say a prayer". (a little child shall lead them") We stopped the car, said a prayer and just as we said "Amen" and opened our eyes
Gma and Gpa pulled up to the side of our car......they had been circling too... Jeffrey looked out his window and saw them and exclaimed "praying works!" We were so happy! A fun time was had by all, and I just wanted to remind Jeffrey because I didn't know if he remembered one of the experiences that built his little testimony of prayer. Ha, Ha....Love MOMMA

Ah that brings back memories. When our son, Jeff, 'graduated' from AF Basic Training we went to San Antonio. I LOVED that hotel. I had Tim take my picture in front of it. Is it pretty inside? It is beautiful from the outside. I loved the River Walk but it was waaaaaay crowded when we were there. San Antonio was so flat though. I am definitely not used to that. Your girls are SO cute!
